Food Art: A Pirate Ship Lunch

Arrr Matey. Friday, September 19th is national “Talk Like A Pirate Day.” It’s a day when kids and adults alike can kick back and have a little piratey fun with their conversations.  This pirate ship lunch will be sure to please your junior sea rovers and I bet they gobble it up faster than you can say “Aye!”

1. Grab your sandwich, and using your knife, slice it into a pirate ship shape.  Cut 2 port holes out of the top piece of bread.  Place your pirate ship sandwich on a plate.

2. Take your pretzel sticks and place them in a cross, coming from the boat.  Slice your piece of mozzarella cheese into a rectangle and place it over the pretzel sticks for a flag.  Cut a very small rectangle out of your remaining mozzarella cheese and place it on the top pretzel piece.

3. Grab your slice of cheddar cheese and cut 2 sword shapes from it.  Cross these 2 swords on top of the largest mozzarella cheese flag.

4. Use some Kix cereal at the bottom of the plate for the sea.
