Kid Craft: Fall Lawn Wind Ornaments

You’ve seen lawn ornaments all over the place and fall is just the start! Why not get the kids’ imagination going and create your own fall lawn ornament? It’s easy, fun and everyone will have fun creating this fun fall lawn ornament!

You’ll  need:

  • fan (and some sort of stand if your fan can’t point up)
  • a trash bag or other plastic bag
  • clips
  • a rubberband or twist tie
  • depending on your fan, you may need some sort of cardboard tube or pipes
  • Optional: glow sticks, leaves

Start by decorating your trash bag with whatever design you like using permanent markers.

Tie the top of the bag together using a rubberband or twist tie. Cut the top off to create a vent.

If your fan is small enough you can attach the bag directly to the fan using tape or clips. If you’re using a larger fan you’ll need something to attach the bag to. We used a cardboard tube cut into pieces.

Attach the bag to the cardboard tubes (or your fan) using clips.

Turn on the fan and see how it works. Adjust your vent to allow more or less air to flow through depending on how it’s functioning for you based on your fan speed. If it’s starting to fly away you’ll need to open up your vent to allow more air to flow through.

For nighttime fun add glow sticks to the inside of your bag.

You can change it up by using a clear bag and adding leaves for a large snow globe type ornament!
